Putney & Fulham: 18th century London Views

An antique original copper plate engraving depicting London's Putney and Fulham (known then to be in Surrey and Middlesex). This print is from a wider series of original London views from the 1700s that we've acquired. Each print is hand framed in striking red colourblock frames with red linen accent mounts and glazed with Artglass.

These charming scenes are from an 18th century traveller's account of life at a time of rapid expansion and exploration around the world. Parts of London today used to be much more rural and these beautiful images provide snapshots of life over 200 years ago.

Each engraving has been framed in a modern tonal style to add balance to the intricate illustrations. The frames are the same size as each other on the wall, so prints could be hung as pairs or wider sets. The only thing to note is that the Kew view is in a portrait orientation as opposed to landscape.
