A beautiful pair of globe artichokes, showing their blue thistle-like flowers (which come into bloom if the artichoke is left uncut). These reprints are directly based on antique engravings from the early 1800s that we sourced for our private collection. Artichokes are one of the oldest known foods, considered a delicacy to ancient Greeks and Romans but are also highly ornamental flowers in their own right.
Each print is hand framed in painted cerulean blue wood mouldings, with the addition of a decorative gold beaded slip (specially crafted to sit within the main blue frame).
Available as a pair or singles.
All our reprint collections are limited in number and originate directly from antiques personally sourced by Petri Prints.
