Although we’re often asked to source sports-themed prints, attractive sporting antiques from previous centuries are quite rare and sought after. We were therefore extremely excited to find a special football lithograph from the early 1800s on which this colourful football reprint is based.
Hand framed in an oatmeal-linen burgundy accent mount and pale blue pointed-profile moulding, this framing has been designed to steer away from anything too traditional - and celebrate the piece’s playful optimism.
The original lithograph of this reprint was by notable British caricaturist: (Isaac) Robert Cruikshank and depicts soldiers playing football on a parade ground.
All our reprint collections are limited in number, hand framed, glazed with Artglass - and originate from antiques specially sourced by Petri Prints.
