The Rugby Players

£130.00

A colourfully framed reprint of a rugby match, based on an antique from 1891 sourced for our personal collection. Although rugby balls started off as a sphere shape, by 1892 -one year after the original lithograph of this print was published- it was deemed compulsory that all rugby balls should be an oval. This shape evolution occurred partly to ensure there was enough differentiation with the football.

Hand framed in a triple linen accent mount (three mounts layered on top of one another: bran linen, toffee and burgundy) alongside a navy blue wood stained moulding.

All our reproduction collections are limited in number and originate from antiques specially sourced by Petri Prints.
