Gualtieri's Shells

This striking set of reprints have been created from two of Italian physician Niccolo Gualtieri's renowned 18th century engravings of shells. These were originally published in Florence, nearly 300 years ago and had pastel hand-colouring added later. Many of Gualteri's drawings were thought to have been based on his own collection of shells. These intricate engravings were made on large sheets of laid paper, so we've purposefully kept the reprints true-to-size, to accurately reflect the glory of these drawings in real life.

Available as singles or a pair - these beautiful shell prints have been framed in dusky terracotta mounts and gold leaf frames.

All our reproduction collections are limited in number and originate from antiques specially sourced by Petri Prints.
