Derbyshire, Chatsworth House - 18th Century British Views

An antique original copper plate engraving depicting Derbyshire’s Chatsworth House which has been the home to the Cavendish Family for over 500 years (and famously used as the fictional house Pemberley in the 2005 filming of Pride and Prejudice). The view shows the impressive house surrounded by landscaped parkland, spectacular waterworks and an approaching horse and carriage. 

This print is part of a wider 18th century traveller's account of life at a time of rapid expansion and exploration around the world. Parts of the UK today used to be much more rural and these beautiful images provide snapshots of life over 200 years ago.

Each engraving has been framed in a beautiful solid tonal style to add balance to the intricate illustrations. The frame and mount are close in colour to Farrow and Ball's 'Blue Green'. The frame has natural wood edges which have been hand stained a light oak colour. 

All frames are the same size as each other on the wall, so prints could be hung as pairs or wider sets.
