An antique original copper plate engraving depicting a perspective view of Liverpool, seen across the Mersey. The river is filled with ships, before getting to compact rows of buildings huddled along the shoreline (where the docks and warehouses are today). 

This print is part of a wider 18th century traveller's account of life at a time of rapid expansion and exploration around the world. Parts of the UK today used to be much more rural and these beautiful images provide snapshots of life over 200 years ago.

Each engraving has been framed in a beautiful solid tonal style to add balance to the intricate illustrations. The frame and closely matching most are near in colour to Farrow and Ball's 'Blue Green'. The frame has natural wood edges which have been hand stained a light oak colour. 

All frames are the same size as each other on the wall, so prints could be hung as pairs or wider sets. York and Castle Howard or Chatsworth House and Wilton House (used as locations in Pride and Prejudice filming), could make notable pairs.
