Brazil (Miniature Playing Card Map)

£110.00

A unique miniature map print representing Brazil, based on a hand drawn card from an antique geographical playing card game published nearly 300 years ago in Paris. This map refers to four locations within Brazil: Pará, Paraíba, Ceara (Siara) and Espírito Santo with additional text and illustrations for the sea, Brazil and South America.

One complete set of this game - which includes decks for all countries known at that time - exists in the British Museum. Whereas only a handful of other sets are thought to exist in composite parts around the world (include the antique we sourced on which to base this reprint).

Hand framed in an off white mount with a striking yellow accent border and gold leaf frame.

All our reproduction collections are limited in number, glazed with Artglass and originate from antiques specially sourced by Petri Prints.
