The Aluette Playing Cards

£935.00

A unique collection directly based on centuries-old playing cards from the late 1700s. These cards came from a latin-suited deck which included cups, swords, batons and coins -  hand painted in hues of orange, yellow, blue and green. They would been used to play a game called Aluette, an old trick-taking game (also known as "La Vache")

Our collection is hand framed with a bevelled natural wood moulding with the distinct addition of a linen slip for texture and depth (a second frame made bespoke to sit within the main frame). Finished with a double mount in shades of antique white and stone green -  carefully chosen to balance the antiquity of the illustrations.

Available as a full set of nine, a curated set of 6, a curated set of 4 and singles.

To buy a pair for £260, please add two single prints to your shopping basket and use the code: TWOCARDS at the checkout.

All our reprint collections are limited in number and originate directly from antiques personally sourced by Petri Prints.
