A striking print depicting a beautiful Red Gurnard fish with red, orange and yellow colouring. Directly based on an engraving from the turn of the 1800s produced by a British poet who had an apprenticeship in a printing shop.
The Red Gurnard has a long body, steep forehead and large pectoral fins (used to find prey on the sea floor). It is sometimes described as prehistoric looking and is found in the northeast Atlantic from the top of the British Isles- alongside the Mediterranean and Black Sea.
Hand framed in a beautiful cerulean-blue textured mount with a red accent border and set in a painterly tuscan red moulding. Please note this frame will have slightly differences on its surface per piece as the moulding lengths are hand finished.
All our reprint collections are limited in number and originate directly from antiques personally sourced by Petri Prints.
