How are items packaged?
- Antique originals are packaged with cardboard guards and additional cardboard.
- Unframed prints are hand rolled by our printer, in protective tissue paper and then shipped in extra thick cardboard tubes.
- All framed re-prints and modern illustration are wrapped by our printers in a protective sleeve with individual plastic or cardboard guards added to each corner. Additional cardboard is secured over the print surface to minimise the risk of breakages or transit damage. Each print is then shipped in a heavy duty cardboard box.
How does 'Print on Demand' work?
Apart from our antique originals, Petri Prints production is a 'print on demand' service. As soon as your order is placed, our printers and framers will get to work on the production which takes 1-2 working days, before shipping your product out to you.
What paper is used in the printing process?
The paper used is a premium museum-quality, heavyweight paper with a gently textured surface. This 200gsm paper is extremely consistent and works very well with large, full colour graphics and illustrations.
Sourced exclusively from Hahnemühle, the world’s most famous papermaker, this fine art paper provides exceptional tonality and renders sharp details with a consistent flatness. All papers are designed for archival storage and are acid-free, making them highly resistant to ageing. The paper is also lignin-free, ensuring it will not yellow with age.
Tell me more about the framing
Each framed print is individually handmade by specialist picture framers and is delivered ready for hanging. Frames are created from high-quality wood, milled with simple clean lines and presented with a satin finish - currently available in black, white or natural wood. The frame has a square, modern 2cm profile which works well in both contemporary and traditional environments. Acrylic Plexiglass is used, which provides increased UV protection, is extremely robust and offers less glare than float glass.
