The Trout Stream

£330.00

A special and interesting antique original engraving depicting a winding river section containing trout and showing its 'trout haunts'. This illustration from the 1830s was used to introduce the idea known today as reading the water, to help anglers establish the most likely parts of the steam to find these fish by understanding their habitats, hiding spots and the river currents.

Letters on this plate were used to denote the following observations: A (Tail of the stream), B (Junction of little rapids), C (The main current course), D (The shallows), E (Deep cover), F (Rapid water) and G (Foam patches and Eddies).

Hand framed in a colourblock style, with a deep blue mount closely matching the moulding, finished with an off white accent mount border to draw the eye in.
