The Man in the Moon

£137.00

A beautiful celestial scene depicting a view of a starry night sky with a full moon (featuring a smiling face), looking down on an illuminated landscape where two human figures and a donkey stand.

Our reprint is directly based on a rare antique engraving from the 1600s (which we searched for, for two years to bring into our private archive!). The 17th century illustrator was a notable cartographer who created a compendium of star charts, views and maps.

Hand framed to mirror the tonal qualities of the moon, in a chalky off white mount with a soft mustard yellow accent border and set in an aged silver moulding with a speckled, celestial-like surface.

All our reprint collections are limited in number and originate directly from antiques personally sourced by Petri Prints.
